Logo Design

Logo design is meant to identify your brand, business, product or service. It’s not meant to explain your name and what you do. Sometimes this can be conveyed in smart or clever ways, but great logos identify and distinguish a brand through simplicity. Think the swoosh, bitten apple, or the golden arches.

A well designed logo for your business or product will be easily memorable and recognizable. It will communicate and resonate with your target audience on a level applicable to them. There’s a difference between a logo and a brand. While a logo makes up part of your brand and identity, it’s neither of those things.

What Is Logo Design?

Logo design is the skillful art of creating a visual mark for a company or brand. A logo typically consists of an icon or symbol, brandmark, typography, or a mixture of these.

Logo design however, is not art. Good design solves problems, and so does good logo design. Design is objective (as in it has a goal to achieve.) Art on the other hand is subjective (based on interpretation, opinions or tastes.) A subjective goal focuses on a personal interpretation of the subject, while an objective goal is based on factual data.

How Important is a Logo?

Your logo is usually the first thing potential customers will see when they come in contact with your marketing touchpoints or pass by your business or its products. Often, a logo begins creating the brand feeling in consumers minds. The same is true for your prospects or customers.

A well-designed logo will communicate the type of or emotional connection your customers will have when they think of your overall products or services. This is just the tip of the entire brand.

How Much Does it Cost?

Project costs depend on each company. Designing for brand on a national scale with a hundred year history is a much different kind of project compared to designing for a new local business startup.
